Working life
Work has been a little bit busy nowadays. But ok, still tolerable. Enjoying every moment of my working life now no matter what happens, it is just another 3 more months to the start of uni. Though I am very indecisive since I have not yet accept the offer yet, I am pretty much sure that I will definitely start schooling in august. Not receiving NUS offer till now makes me a little sad, but well I should not be too greedy. It is already a blessing to be offered my dream course in NTU. I guess I am just a bit worried since I am going to study a whole new thing.
It is hard to decide whether to stay in hall or not. It is a matter of time and money. Both important. I cannot imagine going to school super early due to the long traveling hours, and traveling back home late at night. But spending rental fees just to save some time seems a bit wasteful as well. Haix, hard decision to make. I guess I will think about it more.
Long weekends are good. Especially for 2 consecutive weeks. I don't mind actually to go back to work on weekends, like on this coming Sunday.
Oops, I dont know what to write on anymore. Pretty much the same my life. Nothing unusual, nothing exciting. Almost reaching clementi on 106 to take train to bugis to meet Zhen. Shall end here. And yup, I am already hesitating to post about the Korea trip in words le. I guess I am a bit tired, physically I am glad, not mentally.

highlights of korea trip
Wow, really a rare occasion when I am able to upload photos here. Haha, make good use of it to summarise my korea trip from 02 april 2011 to 09 april 2011. This will be a short entry with some highlights of my trip. Of course it will not be comprehensive, I will try to post more in other entries ba, day by day, attraction by attraction I hoped so. Really hopefully la, if I have the time and energy. I predict myself being super busy from monday onwards, so well, lets see how it goes.
Firstly and most importantly, is KOREAN FOOD!!!! First meal in korea, seoul. BBQ meat, with rice vege and other side dishes. First bite and I knew I will enjoy my trip. Because I simply love the food. Eating rice with kimchi is really a true delight on earth.
Oh ya, not to forget to mention that they are very generous with food. Non-stop refilling of not only side dishes, but the meat as well. Feed us until so fat. Arhx!!
Next on, Jeju Island. Remembered the tour guide saying that this island is 3x the size of Singapore but the population is only dunno how much of Singapore. Much lesser la simply. Not pro with all these geographics or demographics. There is no manufacturing industries in this island. And with less people meaning less pollution. So air here is simply fantastic. My nose is simply functioning perfectly at full power here, no act up of any rhinitis or what, no sneezing throughout even it is quite cooling here. Even water here is sweet :)
Went to this sunrise peak on 4th april 2011. 2nd day in Jeju. Climb this not so high but tiring mountain early morning. Really, dun exercise when u are not feeling well, because haven't walk a few steps I am already breaking out in cold sweats, feeling dizzy and nauseous. That goes to explain my pale face and weird smile. But no choice, to get a good view of the island, and to experience everything that I can in korea, I still managed to 'crawl' up.

See how nice is it. It is not the peak view I think, but it already depicts the scenery here. Clear sky blue water. Still remembered the first night we stepped here it was still raining. But now, skies clear. Love the blue blue feel. Anyway, it was scary to climb down this mountain. Kids there just push u, there are no handles to hold when walking down and steps are so high and rocky. I simply just hold on to the rock wall when walking down, like old ah ma one step at a time. Diaoz. Even my mum walks faster than me here cos she is not afraid of heights as I am. I think what I am afraid of is not the height anyway, is the scary feeling that someone behind me will just push me down. Paranoid disorder.
Went back to Seoul on 5th april 2011. Head to Nami Island at Chuncheon. It was the highlight of my trip. My own highlight cos I really fancy this place. Be it in the drama winter sonata or websites that I visited about here.
U need a 5min boat ride to this island. And once u stepped in, greeting us are just rows and rows of trees.
Nice weather to walk about and play.
A shot with my mum. Got caught by the photographer Jackson. Haha. Funny pose I know. I will definitely like to return to here again. I want to see maple leaves falling, or snow covering all the trees. Really a beautiful island.
Back to Seoul. Visited Lotte World. It is a theme park, got both indoor, outdoor, ice skating rink and a big big shopping mall. But we are given limited time to walk here, as we only arrived at night. So never try to play a lot. Just walk walk and pictures.
Nice carousel they have. This is the one seen in 'stairway to heaven'. I love the feeling to be able to relate actual scenes you see to scenes in dramas. And it is really beautiful here, just like the one in the drama.
They got a bug ice skating area too. But I am really too cold to go near it. Just see from upper levels. To get the full view from where I am standing, you need 8 shots from the camera. Imagine how big is it.
Next on, another theme park. Everland. It is some sort like disneyland, just korean version. Super crowded. Quite big as well.

A group shot. But without our tour leader and tour guide. Funny thing here is there are a lot of cameras for them to take cos all of us pass them our cameras. So we stood here posing for quite some time. Seeing them handle all sorts of camera makes me laugh. Haha. To be an efficient tour guide, you need not only knowledge of the places, but strong and wide camera handling skills as well.
The queue for main rides here is atrocious! We are only given 5hours here, but the queue for a popular ride is like almost 2hours! Sad, in e end I did not manage to take any roller coaster ride. And here there is the world's largest roller coaster, with a almost 90deg straight drop down. Seeing it makes me excited and furious. Really wanted to try but I cannot possibly spend 2hours q-ing and leaving my mum alone to wait for me. Waste of time for her. So we decided to forgo all the rides except for some short ones, and just walk around. ANother reason for me to return here, to try all the rides one day!
My anger only lasted less than 10mins. Everland is having the tulip festival when we are there. Everywhere is full of flowers especially at this seasonal flowers area. Seeing all these colourful flowers brighten up the day. Unfortunately the rose festival starts only in may, otherwise it will be more beautiful ba.
Lastly, introducing yongpyong ski resort. It is already april when we went, so snow is already melting and so what we see is mainly ice instead. But still got snow la, especially high up in the mountain. I think this mountain is more than 1500m above sea level. Took us 20mins to take the cable car up here. Raining when we came up, so it is super cold, windy and misty. Temp probe shows 2deg, but it is definitely below 0deg when the wind blows. Chilly is the word to use. Snow all around still.

See, misty and windy. A lot of school kids around. For their spring vacation ba. Super funny and noisy, can see some of the guys taking off their shirts leaving only their shorts on, and running out in the cold. Haha. Then some gals wore those disposable raincoat and walk in the wind as well, screaming while they walked. My mum dun dare to walk out of the building cos it is super cold and slippery. When the wind blows, you will move as well. And not forgetting the rain. So I went out on my own lo. This is how I looked before I walked out truely.
Taken by my tour leader Isaac. This is how kuku I looked out there. Shouldn't have trust my mum to button up my whole coat to the neck. Looks super nerdy lo. My only shot out there is ruin just like that. ANyway the whiteness of the snow is so glaring that my glasses turned black. Out here is cold like hell when the wind blows. I am not wearing winter clothings btw. ANd the gloves are really useless. Trying to take pic with my iphone here as my camera is turning misty as well from all the mist and rain. But it wont allow me to on because it dun recognise my gloved fingers to slide to unlock. Lol. too smart and sensitive, so I took out my gloves to unlock. ANd take some pics around. In less than a minute my hands can barely move le. Too cold. And at this time took out my 2heat packs, guess what, they are simply useless lo. Maybe useful in temp like 5 and above. But in conditions like these, my hand is too numb to feel the pathetic heat.
I took a small walk around this area. My hair all wet from the rain somemore. And the ice is super slippery due to rain and snow melting. Walked up, and cannot climb down again. SHoes not waterproof or not designed to walk in snow/ice. EVery step is scary. And the wind which is blowing you back. LOL. Took me quite a while to finally walk back. On e way of walking back to the cable car building, the mist is so thick that the building can barely be seen.
Building is disappearing! Hahhahha.
Well, this picture marks the end of this short post of my 8days korea trip. Still got a lot more interesting things lo, teddy bear museum la, the funny JUMP show, fun and tasty seafood dinner, super hot hotspring, trendy and 'orchard' like myeondong etc etc etc.
Too many things to write, too little time to complete. 0345 now. Eyes sleepy, but recalling events and details of korea experience makes me excited once over again. Still, need to sleep le la. Hopefully to update here again. Tmr (or rather later in the day) if I can, if not next week. Good night (morning).

indecisive as usual
Well, maybe a bit late, but yup, I am back from korea, already. Real fast right? Haha. But still ok after 2days of working. Enjoyable still, my days are still filled with laughter despite the major diarrhoea and gastric pain I am having. I am starting to think that I am blending into my current work environment. When you start to know the people there, when you start to talk more, or just a simple thing when you are no longer having meals on your own, you know you are already part of them already. All these processes take time, and unfortunately for me, it will take a long time. After 8months of working here, I am finally feeling more at ease. I guess for introverts like me, 8months is better than never. But sadly, whenever things are getting better, it means that the end is approaching as well. Ok, for my case not too bad, I can still work until end of july, meaning about 4more months to go before I bid goodbye here. I guess I would be sad as last time before. However, I know all these will pass, since now I no longer miss the ward anymore as well. Or should I say, I never regretted leaving the ward??? Lol. It is indeed a relief and excellent decision of mine to decide to step out of that dark place. Although I do grumble about my new work place as well, but things are just different. At least you will not have nightmares when you sleep, or afraid to on your phone in case of any callbacks or weird queries in the middle of the night.
Anyway, I should stop grumbling about the above, everytime I hit this topic it will be an endless story telling session. I will post more about my korea trip anyway, during this weekend or the long weekend next week ba. I cannot promise photos upload here, since this photo uploader does not work on me nowadays, but I will finish uploading photos to facebook. Here, will be an all words entries. Woah, sounds boring lehx, nvr mind la, for myself to see anyway. In short, the korea trip is quite an enjoyable one. Sadly I still prefer my japan trip as I really love the culture there. But tour group wise, I prefer this korea one as I think people here are really more helpful and approachable. Tour guides and tour leaders are all fantastic. Hehe. Korea weather is definitely more tempting for me, I am really liking the cold cold feel on my skin. And not to mention that my allergic rhinitis or sinusitis does not act up there at all. A little setback maybe the mild food poisoning symptoms on the last day of our tour. Maybe should not diagnose it as a food poisoning since less than 10 got it?? But I saw my mum suffer from vomiting and diarrhoea, a bit worrying but ok recovered within a day. And I am having diarrhoea for 2days le not recovering, plus gastric plus indigestion. Haha. Ok, I admit this is my own prob and nothing to do with the food there! Love korean food there, missing the food there. I am finding every possible chance to go eat a korean meal in singapore again. It was nice for our tour leader Isaac to call up on monday after we came back to check on my mum and me. Told a little lie that I was perfectly fine when I am not. LOL. Was desparately wanting to hang up because I am out in the clinical area, totally not right to use my HP then. But still appreciate the thoughts, or oh well, he is just doing his job anyway.
Ok, more about the trip in future posts. 2nd week of april already. I am getting a little sad for not receiving NUS letter yet. Well, I know I am asking for the impossible by expecting to see an offer in life science since I am not meeting the basic requirement for this course. But still, I want to see an offer in at least FASS which I've gotten in last year. Well, I may sound sick, but it serves as a confidence booster for me. Sometimes I hate myself for being so indecisive. I think I've mentioned this before already. When I already gotten the best offer I would ever have, I will still think of other choices and possibilities. When everything is too smooth sailing, I will want to jump to another rocky road and fall and injure badly again. Sickening me. And this explains why I've not indicated my acceptance in the offer yet. I am just playing with time again.
Haix, I am not trying to show off. But I really still cannot accept the fact to get into this course without any interviews. Ok, sound sick more I know. But everything really seems so unreal suddenly. Things are really going on too smoothly. Work is great, colleagues are nice, my life is filled with laughter, even the long yearned course of mine got accepted. Are things too good to be true really? Or maybe I have already 'suffered' long enough in my prev job that I cannot accept the fact not to face difficulties.
Suddenly remembered what a taxi driver said to me, he said I looked more mature than my age. Not my looks la, but in terms of the way I talked. I dunno about that because I thought usually people will think I am childish. But he is right in a sense. Childish is what I wish I am, but in actual fact, I am not as naive as I seemed to be. I've seen a lot, as per him. That's true. Not many people of my age have seen many deaths and departures. Not many people have seen the ugly facts of life and work, or even the ugly nature of humans. U may have seen it in TV of how dramas show people react when their relatives die, but you may not have seen it in real life. How sudden a person can die, how attached and faithful a maid can be to her owner, or how cruel a child can be to throw their parents about. When I handled a first death, I was sad and almost cried together with the relatives. The 2nd and 3rd, you may still feel tears in your eyes. But subsequently, it will become a norm. A norm that all these are so natural that you feel nothing. Yes, the worst feeling in the world is not feeling sad angry or depressed, is the feeling of nothing or emptiness.
Well, my main point is, it is just my own problem that I cannot accept a success easily. Actually, things in life maybe just as simple as that. I really should not think so much after all. Simplify your thoughts, and lead a more simple and cheerful life. This should be the way?? Since I am going to step in a school life again. But don't get me wrong, I am still very happy and excited to get into communication studies. It is my first choice after all. I am just annoyed by the fact that I still wish to get more offers and choices when I am already given the best. Greedy me. I acknowledged that. Anyway, I will definitely accept this course. No matter what NUS will offer me. Or maybe they will not. Mass communication has always been what I wanted since secondary school days. Just that I have no confidence to step into it due to the unknown future with it. But it seems so foolish thinking as even I've stepped into nursing which is really a great future since u will be assured of a stable and prospectful job, it is of no use if this is not what you are looking for in life. Nursing is a great job. I love having the medical knowledge and nursing skills that normal people lack of, but practising nursing in singapore is not feasible for me. It is a job with great satisfaction and return if you put your heart into it, but it is also a job which kills if you are not working with your whole heart, which is my case sadly. I do not hate the job, but it is not the ultimate thing that I am looking for. My main interest from beginning till now still lies in media. I know even gaining admission to the course or graduating from the course does not mean anything until you start working in reality, it still beats not trying to do what you like totally.
I guess future will be a big challenge to me since I am really not outspoken as required in mass communication. Communication, my weakest point. But never mind, I am deciding to focus on publishing or journalism anyway. Oh ya, ex NUH colleague emily also got offered in her first choice economics. I hope she will accept it as well ultimately (although she says she will now, it is hard to predict as she is more indecisive than me). Then we will become school mates. And then I will not be the rare overage student in NTU. LOL.

Some updates
1) my cough and sore throat is coming back again. Managed to lighten it by going to the gp straight but he got no effective remedies as well as this is an old ailment.
2) very tired at work due to medicine. And very irritated at work due to some 38 staff at work. Worse than the one I mentioned earlier posts. Some people are just born without brain! Since they already have no brain, can't they just be born without a mouth as well so that rubbish will not pour out from their mouth??!!!
3) Korea trip is tmr. But I m not feeling the excitement yet, cos there is work tmr again.
4) still awaiting application result from Nus. Decided already, my choice will be communication studies from ntu unless I am offered life science in Nus.
5) lots of things to buy in Korea. For me and my friends and colleagues. I need to bring my notebook with me in order not to miss out anything.
6) my tour guide SMS to say temp in Seoul dropped to 0deg at night. And I dun hav a winter jacket with me!!
7) although I have this blogging app, but I m still not updating frequently as I tot I will be.
8) no early sleep tonight because I've not pack my luggage, and tonight got 犀利人妻live again!!!
